Family of seven killed in landslide in Reasi

Jammu, Aug 30: A devastating landslide in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district has claimed the lives of a family of seven, including five children.

The tragedy occurred in the early hours of Saturday after a cloudburst triggered the landslide, causing their house to collapse, officials said.

​According to Waqar Yunus, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Reasi’s Mahore, the incident happened around 3 a.m. The entire family was buried under the debris and mud for several hours before their bodies were retrieved on Saturday morning.

​The victims included five children, aged 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12, along with two adults. The community was left in shock after villagers discovered the collapsed house in the morning and began a frantic search. Visuals from the scene showed villagers and rescue workers digging through the mud and debris to recover the bodies.
