Param Sundari Film Review: A cross-cultural romantic comedy.

Param Sundari directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films), starrer Sidharth Malhotra as Param a tech savvy Delhi youth and Janhvi Kapoor as Sundari a grounded, self-reliant Keralite homestay owner.

The narrative unfolds as Param tests his dating app, which leads him to Sundari in Kerala, sparking a North-meets-South love story. A feel-good entertainer… Crackling chemistry between Sidharth & Janhvi works for the most part.

However, the story and screenplay of the film is full of confusion. The writer and director were not able to portray Malayali society, Malayali culture and festivals etc. properly. He could not give the right treatment to the story of the film. Some absurd things have definitely been said about dating apps and algorithms.

Sidharth Malhotra makes a strong impression… His charismatic screen presence and likeable act elevate the narrative. Janhvi Kapoor delivers good act… Natural, spontaneous and brimming with confidence… An absolute delight to watch.

Sachin-Jigar’s music is not bad. with tracks like Bheegi Saari and Pardesiya resonating powerfully on the big screen. It is heartening to listen to Sonu Nigam in a new film song after a while.

Tushar Jalota fails at bringing the story to life. Right from the very beginning, the film hardly feels like a romantic comedy; instead, it comes across as a mere beauty parade, a glossy competition of good looks rather than a heartfelt narrative. The movie lacks substance, with no noteworthy impact on the audience. The dialogues are intended to make you laugh but fall flat. Overall, one can predict what happens next and Param Sundari fails to make a mark on your heart. Param Sundari delivers an average cinematic package: lush visuals, soulful music, and a standout performance by Janhvi Kapoor make it somehow enjoyable watch. It’s a popcorn-worthy romantic comedy light-hearted and easy on the eyes but suffers from a predictable narrative and inconsistent character development.
