J&K CM questions past Govts’ flood mitigation efforts

​Jammu, Aug 27: In the wake of the devastating 2025 floods, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has publicly criticized previous administrations, questioning their response and preparedness since the 2014 floods.

​In a post on X, Abdullah shared striking side-by-side images from both the 2014 and 2025 floods, which showed nearly identical damage at the same location. This comparison served as a “shocking eye opener” and prompted him to call for accountability.

​Abdullah directly challenged the lack of progress over the past 11 years, asking, “What, if anything, did we learn from the 2014 floods? What corrective steps were taken in the last 11 years? What flood mitigation measures were implemented since Oct 2014?”

​The Chief Minister emphasized that his newly elected government would seek answers to these critical questions, highlighting a clear failure to implement lasting flood mitigation strategies in the decade following the 2014 disaster.
