Mangaluru, August 15 (CMT): Karnataka’s Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, condemned the recent attacks on the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh during his Independence Day address here today and emphasized that the central government should take up the matter on the international fora to ensure the safety and security of Hindus residing in Bangladesh.Speaking after hoisting the national flag as the chief guest on the occasion of India’s 78th Independence Day, Gundu Rao said, “The recent tragic incidents in Bangladesh have deeply saddened all Indians. The central government should initiate actions on the global platform to safeguard the minority Hindus living in Bangladesh urgently.”He further stated, “It is the moral imperative of the majority community to protect minorities across the world. Our resolute pledge should be to foster an environment of peace and harmony globally.”Gundu Rao, who is also the in-charge minister for Dakshina Kannada district, asserted that the sacrifices of national heroes like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, who spearheaded the freedom struggle, should never be forgotten. Their ideals continue to be a source of inspiration for all. He emphasized that paying homage to these freedom fighters is our foremost duty.He underscored that Independence Day is not merely a day for celebration but also for introspection.He highlighted the remarkable progress made by India in the post-independence era, a source of immense pride for the nation. He lauded the efforts of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, for laying a robust foundation for the country’s development after liberation from colonial rule. Gundu Rao credited Nehru’s contributions in the fields of education and healthcare for transforming Indian citizens into a capable human resource. He also acknowledged the achievements made in attaining self-sufficiency in the sectors of agriculture and industry.Gundu Rao proclaimed that India has now emerged as a force to be reckoned with on the global stage. He underlined India’s strides in information technology, biotechnology, and space science, which have captivated the world’s attention.He affirmed that the Karnataka government is tirelessly working towards the state’s all-round progress. He emphasized the government’s commitment to realizing the true essence of freedom by ensuring prosperity and well-being for all.
