3 CRPF personnel killed, 15 others injured in accident in Udhampur

Jammu, Aug 7: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel died and 15 others were injured on after their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district today.

​The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the Kadwa area of the district as the CRPF personnel from the 187th battalion were returning from an operation in Basant Garh, officials said adding the vehicle was carrying a total of 23 people.

​Two personnel were pronounced dead at the spot, while 16 others were rushed to a nearby hospital, they said adding one of the injured later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.

​Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh took to social media to express his distress over the incident, stating that he had spoken with the Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, who is personally overseeing rescue and relief efforts.

Locals also assisted in the immediate rescue operations. All possible help is being provided to the victims and their families.
