Top JeM commander among three terrorists killed in Kishtwar gunfight
Kishtwar (J&K), Feb 22: In a major blow to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit, security forces eliminated three terrorists, including a high-ranking commander, during a fierce encounter in Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir today.
The gunfight broke out in the general area of Passerkoot in Chatroo tehsil after a joint team Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army’s 2 Para, and the CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence, official sources said.
As the security forces established contact, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a prolonged engagement, they said adding in the encounter all the three terrorists were neutralised.
One of them has been identified as Saifulla, described as a top JeM commander who had previously managed to evade security forces on multiple occasion, they said.
Earlier, the Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed the contact via social media, noting that the area had been completely cordoned off to prevent any escapes.
