J&K LG attends passing-out-parade of DySsp, PSIs in Udhampur

Jammu, June 18: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has attended the Passing-out Parade of the 17th Batch of Probationers Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySsP) and the 26th Batch of Probationers Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) at the Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) at Udhampur in Jammu yesterday.
A total of 49 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 1112 Probationary Sub-Inspectors completed their rigorous training.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor congratulated the new police officials and urged them to uphold the values and ethos of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. He equated the officers to ancient warriors, possessing the creative power of Brahma, the nurturing power of Vishnu, and the absolute power of Shiva.
Sinha paid tribute to the J&K Police personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation, expressing pride in their professional competence and success in combating terrorism and security challenges. He emphasized the importance of protecting society and upholding ancient values of truth, justice, morality, law, and good governance.
The Lieutenant Governor called upon the J&K Police Force to leverage modern technology like Artificial Intelligence for enhanced data collection and analysis to counter security threats, prevent radicalization, and overcome adverse situations. He stressed that the complete eradication of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir is a top priority, advocating for a multi-pronged approach that includes intelligence, community engagement, technology, and inter-agency collaboration.
While acknowledging technological advancements, he highlighted the continued importance of beat policing and area policing, urging a balance between Techint (technical intelligence) and Humint (human intelligence) to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts. He also asked police personnel to foster collective vigilance within communities to ensure a coordinated response against terrorists and build trust.
Sinha emphasized intelligence-driven anti-terror operations, stating he has given a “free hand” to the J&K Police Force and security forces to deal with terrorists and their ecosystem. He called for intensified targeted strikes on Over Ground Worker (OGW) networks and those providing logistical and financial support to terrorists.
He also extended felicitations to the trainers and officials of the Police Academy Udhampur and the families of the passing out DySsP and PSIs.
Garib Dass, Director, Udhampur Police Academy, briefed attendees on the training program, which covered New Criminal Laws, Artificial Intelligence, cybercrime, narc-terrorism, general warfare, field craft and tactics, counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, human rights, and law & order.
The Lieutenant Governor took the ceremonial salute, inspected the parade, and felicitated new recruits who excelled in their training. An oath was administered to the passing out DySsP and PSIs, pledging dedication and honesty in their duties.
Dignitaries present included Nalin Prabhat, DGP J&K, Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Saloni Rai, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur; senior officials from Police, Security Forces, and civil administration, as well as family members of the passing out officers. Also in attendance were Lal Chand, Chairman, District Development Council, Udhampur, Pawan Gupta, Balwant Singh Mankotia, R S Pathania and Sunil Bhardwaj, Members of Legislative Assembly, and numerous prominent citizens.
