Two arrested by NIA for harbouring LeT terrorists in Pahalgam attack case

Srinagar (J&K), Jun 22: In a significant development in the investigation of the horrific Pahalgam terror attack, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals accused of providing shelter and support to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists responsible for the April 22, 2025 assault. The attack tragically claimed the lives of 26 tourists and left 16 others severely injured.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar from Batkote, Pahalgam, and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam. NIA investigations revealed that the duo knowingly supplied food, shelter, and logistical aid to the attackers.
According to officials, the terrorists stayed in a seasonal dhok (hut) at Hill Park before executing the targeted killings, which were carried out based on the victims’ religious identity. During interrogation, Parvaiz and Bashir reportedly disclosed that the three armed assailants were Pakistani nationals associated with the banned LeT outfit.
Both accused have been booked under Section 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, in connection with NIA case RC-02/2025/NIA/JMU.
The brutal Pahalgam terror attack, which specifically targeted tourists based on their religious identity, sent shockwaves across India and drew condemnation from numerous countries worldwide. In response, India launched “Operation Sindoor” to neutralize cross-border terrorists.
The NIA’s probe is ongoing as authorities work to unravel the complete conspiracy behind this heinous act of terrorism.
