Omar calls for retrieval of both PoK and J&K’s portion under Chinese occupation

Jammu, March 6, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today emphasized that the government should not only focus on retrieving Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) but also work towards reclaiming the region of Jammu and Kashmir under illegal Chinese occupation.

In his remarks, Omar criticized BJP leaders for accusing the National Conference (NC) of insulting Jammu and Kashmir’s last ruler, Maharaja Hari Singh.

He challenged the BJP to provide an instance where any Kashmir-based party had disrespected the Dogra ruler. He accused the BJP of undermining and downgrading the state’s status under its rule.

Speaking on the issue of Kashmir’s territorial dispute, the Chief Minister questioned Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s recent statement, stating, “The Foreign Minister is claiming that the part of Kashmir under Pakistan’s occupation will be reclaimed. Who is stopping them? Have we ever opposed such an action?” He concluded his remarks while addressing the motion of thanks to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s speech in the Legislative Assembly.

Jaishankar had earlier stated at a session at London’s Chatham House on March 5, 2025, that the Kashmir dispute would be resolved when the stolen part of Kashmir under illegal Pakistani occupation is returned to India.
