7-year-old girl injured in an encounter in Kathua
Jammu, Mar 23: A seven-year-old girl suffered minor injuries in an exchange of fire between militants and security forces in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir today, officials said.
The exchange of fire ensued after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation amid specific inputs about presence of terrorists in Hiranagar area of Kathua district this evening, they said.
As the joint team of forces encircled the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the forces, which was retaliated by the joint team of security forces, they said.
In the encounter, a seven year old Anchal Kumari of Bihar and at present Hiranagar area got minor injury and was shifted to nearby hospital, the officials said adding the condition of the girl is stable.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat reached the encounter site to personally monitor the ongoing anti-terrorist operation.
